School for Utopian Futures · 2018

In collaboration with Ellingham V.C. Primary School, Norfolk South Harringay School, London, Adam Abdullah, Addey & Stanhope School, London.

Is your school utopian? What rights do children have? Are their voices heard? Working with school children from both rural and urban schools and a diverse range of economic and cultural backgrounds, this project set out to ask children what they thought a Utopian Future might look like, and how it might be realised through critical pedagogy and child-led teaching. Throughout the workshops, children were given cameras to document their experience and time away from grown-ups to say what they really thought.

Fake News, Real Problems · 2017

In 2011, a Tory government proposed boundary changes that would lead to the introduction of a new constituency: Greenwich & Deptford coming into effect in

2018. Working from my studio in the disused painting, decorating and floristry buildings for Lewisham Southwark College, I had seen the effect of gentrification happening in Deptford and wondered if this might be an opportunity for a proposal of my own: what would happen if a Socialist Party MP were elected in this new constitency? Ana Key MP was born and proceeded to attend demos, hold surgeries for project particpants and act on their behalf. Do MPs really have power? How far can a convincing website, twitter feed and letterhead do in terms of inspiring action from others?
