IGNITION IN UTERO
2015-2018

A series of performances spanning multiple locations exploring women's reproductive rights in the 21st century and making demands for their expansion culturally and politically. This project began in 2015 on a beach in Suffolk and has since travelled the rolling hills, caves, covens and computer screens asking that we #repealthe8th. Each iteration of the ignition is site specific but almost all feature the 'womb-projector'; a steel harness which holds the burning object at womb-height, creating the illustion of its levitation. Here you can see the singed fragments of documentation from some of these performances.
